Shreiner's Gardens, Spring 2011

Just off from Interstate 5 north of Salem, Oregon, lies an unassuming little farm estate surrounded by mature trees and outlying fields.
On closer inspection, however, the fields are planted thick and long with iris plants in every color hybrid imagineable. On approach to the
driveway, a hand-painted white mailbox displays an iris spread and reads "Schreiner" in a simple script A sign inside the driveway indicates the
hours of business, while the eye is immediately captured by a spread of flowering shrubs. Upon entering, an enormous display garden boasts a
jaw-dropping array flowers in every possible shape and color. A greenhouse in the back furthers the effect with numerous varieties of flowers
for sale. Proceeding to the far end of the property, the iris display garden emerges. Well worth the visit in late spring or early summer.

The garden display attracts numerous artists
and photographers. On this day perhaps thirty
painters with easels, brushes, and sometimes even
small sun canopies, had set up shop throughout
the gardens. Here, a watercolor artist has lightly
penciled the scene and is now filling it with color.
